1949 gelding, bred by L. U. Sheep Co. WY
I looked at this photo & said "Oh, a palomino." He is registered as a Dark Chestnut w/Light mane & tail. However, his dam was one of the Night Tide mares with the dilution gene. She was registered as dun with black mane & tail, but was a buckskin.
And one of my strong pet peeves, whether current or historical--that rear cinch is way too loose and is a danger!
