I have been in the midst of a major project of cleaning out the storage loft. I found a box of stuff and in it was something I had forgotten I had--a big wack of pages from the now defunct magazine, California Horse Review. So I scanned the entire batch and will be putting them up here.
(Allen's Major x Lippitt Georgiana) These photos were taken on our 1984 Vermont trip. She was 19 at the time. We got a daughter of hers, Ryegate Nubbinette, on that trip. Snubbers, as she was fondly known, looked like an image of Major's Nubbin, even to color. Snubbers' daughter, SSM Bessie Nekomia, has a colt, "Ray" who looks like Snubbers. One of Snubbers' many nicknames was Dinosaur. I sent a YouTube of Ray to my ex-husband, who replied upon seeing it--"Dinosaurs live forever"--how very true.
This blog is dedicated to the Old Morgan--either those who are long gone or those who are contemporary and aged. I will be posting photos of historical Morgans and my own aged horses. Visitors are welcome to submit photos, both historical horses and their own aged horses. Please make the photos of reasonable size and make sure they are compressed. Include as much information as possible on each photo. Use this email addy--
I've been a student of the horse all my life and an avid reader of all sorts of books. I got into Morgans in 1979, getting my first Morgans in 1980 and then becoming a breed historian with published articles in various publications. I still have Morgans, and cats.
