Rockwell's Valley Tan 12/64 TMH

This stallion, who has descendants today, was foaled in 1961, bred by James Sequist, Woods Cross, Utah.
I have often wondered about the horse's name. And I may have found an answer. I was reading a book called The Long Rider's Winter, written in 1924 by Thomas Lavering of Dillon, Mt, and hidden away in an archive until being published in 1983 with the author name on the cover as Frank Calkins.
Not too far into the book, the characters who were in Utah stopped at a place somewhat south of the Great Salt Lake and had some local made whiskey called Valley Tan. hmmmm. I did a search on that & found that indeed there was a Utah made whiskey known by that name.
So, maybe?
