In 1976 I lived in Sheridan, Wyo. A doctor and his family had bought Funquest Gold Hawk and three other Morgans. He had me take Gold Hawk and a gelding in training. These people really did not know much. Anyway, I found out after riding Gold Hawk a few times that he was extremely well trained. They needed a turnback so I took him to cutting practice to help. Realized in a few seconds that he was a cutting horse. I never learned anything from owner's but his name. Tried to help them with getting two foals registered, but they really did not seem to care. I ran across a picture of Gold Hawk I had taken back then and then I Googled Funquest Gold Hawk. That was him. I never knew what happened to him. I used him a year and was so impressed with him. I live in Albany Oregon, have home business Paulson Saddlery. 11/11/2024
This blog is dedicated to the Old Morgan--either those who are long gone or those who are contemporary and aged. I will be posting photos of historical Morgans and my own aged horses. Visitors are welcome to submit photos, both historical horses and their own aged horses. Please make the photos of reasonable size and make sure they are compressed. Include as much information as possible on each photo. Use this email addy--
I've been a student of the horse all my life and an avid reader of all sorts of books. I got into Morgans in 1979, getting my first Morgans in 1980 and then becoming a breed historian with published articles in various publications. I still have Morgans, and cats.
