Donald Allen's dam, El Lu, was by El Cortez and out of Red Oak Lu. El Cortez was registered under the name of Hiebert's Challenge and was also bred by Elmer Brown. His sire was Romanesque and he was out of Viola Linsley. Red Oak Lu was bred by Richard Sellman and was by Red Oak and out of Fantina K.
Thus El Don carried some of the best of the founding Western Working Family blood.
