Justinian TMH 3/53

Had only 4 registered foals. One was Elchem, out of the noted dam Janee. Foaled in 1942, Elchem also was limited at stud & had 5 registered. One of those, however, was the noted sire, Sherimill Sunrise, out of the noted dam Hepatica.
I have a memory of an article in TMH, way back in the '40's probably or early '50's, about either Justinian or his son Elchem. I recall that whichever it was, had been found in a bad situation and rescued. This was in upstate NY. I think it was Justinian.

Despite being registered as Red Roan, he was actually gray. His dam was the source of the color. She was by Troubadour of Willowmoor and out of Rachel 4398, who was foaled in 1907, bred in VT. She was by Ethan Allen 4696 and out of Nelly x-4397. Nelly was a gray by Aristos 1495, and Nelly's dam was Daisy w/ no pedigree.
